I need a Mascot (Fantastic Finds)

I know you must be thinking: "You don't need a mascot! You have one- Ringo is totally your mascot!"

Well... I don't think Mr. Starkey is all that interested.

Yeah, nope.

Ringo seems more interested in being mascot of the backyard. I occasionally carry my crochet out to the picnic table, and am met with Ringo, face to face. I think he disapproves of my less than adventurous spirit.

So since Ringo is the wrong animal for the job, I've taken to pondering Amigurumi sheep. Every now and then I go searching for the perfect pattern. Usually I find cuteness abounding. But I want something more than cuteness in my mascot. I want personality.

And so I discovered Bob and Daisy.

Are they not the most perfecterestest Amigurumi sheep you've ever seen? I'm completely smitten by their charming little selves.

I'm buying the pattern as soon as I click the orange "Publish" button on this post. Maybe in my reckless excitement I'll forego proof reading. 

Oops, I kinda just bought it without even finishing this post.

I Love Ewe! (Fantastic Finds)

The other day in the craft store by my house, I came across a tiny ceramic sheep.

It was painfully adorable! I may have squealed but no one would have minded, I had my 18 month old son with me.

"I'm getting this!" my inner monologue triumphed. "It can be my little mascot." I snatched it from the shelf and placed it in my basket.

If I want a mascot for my crocheting... shouldn't it be something, oh I don't know, made from yarn? Specifically: crocheted?

Avocado Yarn (Yarn!)

A couple days ago

I received a skein of

New Yarn!!

Yeeeees!!

And of course I celebrated the

yarn arrival with a 

HaPpY DaNcE

....but only after I was sure the postman was out of sight. 

=D

 I don't know about you, 

but I tend to get into a yarn rut. 

I buy the same ol' yarns,

in the same ol' colors,

from the same ol' store.

So, I was perusing Etsy and happened upon 

this 

beautiful

skein

of

yarn.

At first I was going to put it in a treasury.

But then I realized....

someone might buy it.

Someone else.

And I wanted it.

It (obviously) didn't make it in the treasury.

It's mine. 

=D

I can't wait to get to working with it!

I have to finish that floor mat (so close!).

I should probably finish the mystery project.

I need to keep working on my Bed of Roses blanket.

But in the midst of all this I will

surely

most definitely

make something 

beautiful 

with my Avocado Yarn. 

Sigh.

This yarn is 

so very gorgeous.

I like to keep it in view, 

despite being at least a couple weeks away

from working with it.

Simple is Best (Fantastic Finds)

Right now I'm making a cowl. I'll tell you exactly how to make it, no pattern lingo, nothing. It's simple.

Chain as many chains as will reach around your neck. More for a long cowl (keep going and going for an infinity scarf!) less for a snug fit.  Half-double-crochet in each across. Then, double-crochet in each across until the cowl is to a depth of your liking. Half-double-crochet in each across. Either slip-stitch the sides together, or find another way of fastening the two. Maybe add a twist before you join the sides. Maybe fold the cowl in half and add a button. The little finishing touches add visual interest, but don't change the simplicity.

For some reason Granny Squares are associated with mainly blankets and often throw pillows. Why is that? There's so much you can do with a granny square (or hexagon!)....

Ah, the Chevron stitch. Much like the Granny Square, it's one of those fabulous crochet designs that has never really gone out of style. Chevron has surpassed trend and has reached that sought after fashion status of: Classic.
